Boscarelli
Tuscany (Italy)
The story began in 1962 with founder Egidio Corradi’s dream of producing a noble wine that exalts the aromas and flavors of his native land while imparting the elegance he loved. Born into an old Poliziana family in the Montepulciano, he spent most of his life working as an broker. But his infinite passion for wine and deep knowledge of his home region induced him to buy two semi-abandoned small farms in Cervognano of Montepulciano, a stunning corner of old Etruscan Tuscany. Egidio’s dream and vision were embraced and invigorated by his daughter Paola and her husband Ippolito De Ferrari. Driven by their strong determination and dedication, they started Poderi Boscarelli in the ’60s. The development that followed brought renewed life to the age-old farming estate as Paola and Ippolito planted their first specialized vineyards at a density of 3,500 plants per hectare. They also built the first winery by renovating and adapting old stables.
BOSCARELLI
Prugnolo Rosso di Montepulciano DOC 2021
TASTING NOTE
Robert Parker, “The name Prugnolo now appears on the front label of this entry-level blend of 85% Sangiovese and 15% Mammolo. The Boscarelli 2021 Rosso di Montepulciano Prugnolo exhibits a fresh, fruit-driven personality with lots of bright cherry and redcurrant. This wine is packed tight with lovely tart fruit flavors with lots of vitality and energy. This is exactly how I envisage Rosso di Montepulciano. The wine aged in stainless steel and cement only, and 15,000 bottles were made.
BOSCARELLI
Boscarelli IGT 2021
TASTING NOTE
A Super Tuscan Bordeaux-style blend from one of the most esteemed estates in Montepulciano. 12 – 18 months in french oak barrels. Very limited production. Lots of graphite and pencil shavings show on the nose of this Sangiovese, along with cherries, coffee and black olive. The palate maintains that metallic pepperiness, and adds the sourness of cherry skins and underripe plums echoed in crunchy tannins.
BOSCARELLI
Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva DOCG 2020
TASTING NOTE
Wine Spectator, “Mint and eucalyptus shade the cherry and strawberry fruit in this sleek yet solidly built red, with a mineral note underlying it all. Balanced, this needs time for all the elements to integrate fully, yet there’s still very positive energy driving the long finish. Best from 2027 through 2045. 850 cases made.
BOSCARELLI
Costa Grande Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2020
TASTING NOTE
Wine Spectator, “ure and supple out of the gate, this red infuses raspberry, cherry, iron, leather and wild herb aromas and flavors. Thick-textured tannins back it all up, leaving a dusty, tactile feel on the finish, yet there’s an elegance, despite the tannins. Best from 2027 through 2045. 450 cases made
BOSCARELLI
Sotto Casa Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Ris. DOCG 2020
TASTING NOTE
Wine Spectator, “Cherry, blackberry, iron, sanguine and wild herb aromas and flavors highlight this muscular red. Thick, burly tannins leave a strong grip on the finish. This is a touch bitter in the balance, but food will help mitigate that. Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Best from 2027 through 2043. 850 cases made.
