SCHLOSS VAUX
Rheingau (Germany)
1/5 red grapes from Gault Millau
The history of the company starts in 1868. With the acquisition of the Chateâu VAUX, close to the French city of Metz and its elaborate Vineyards alongside the river Mosel, a German sparkling wine producer arose. 50 years into its existence and after the First World War, the owners had to give residence due to French retribution claims of the Alsace-Lorraine territory. The wine-cellars are moved to Eltville in the Rheingau area, but the name “Schloss VAUX” remains. Now, Schloss Vaux is regarded as one of the finest german sparkling house producing fine pearls using only the traditional method just like in the Champagne.

CUVÉE VAUX SEKT BRUT 2016
TASTING NOTE
This sparkling is made from three different grapes: Pinot Blanc, Riesling and Pinot Noir. The Pinot Noir is responsible for the back-bone, the Riesling for the elegancy and the Pinot Noir for the softness and creamyness. In the nose you have a fine and subtile fruit – remaining of pears, appels and melones with a fine hint of the aromas from traditionel method. The mouthfeel is fine, elegant, fruit driven but not sweet with the classical freshness of a german sparkling – Sekt!!!

STEINBERGER RIESLING BRUT 2013
TASTING NOTE
Maybe one of the most famous sites in the Rheingau. It is a monopol site owned by the wine estate: Staatsweingüter Kloster Eberbach. This estate is delivering us since generations best grapes out of the Steinberger for an excellent Riesling Sekt. The terroir is magnificant: Rolling hills with a moderate cool climat and grey slate are the main factors for this wonderful wines from the side. The climate is always a reason for a long hanging time, creating a high physiolocial rippness with still having a nice acidty structure.

RHEINGAUER RESERVE RIESLING SEKT BRUT 2015
TASTING NOTE
This sparkling Riesling from Schloss Vaux’s own vineyards promises a striking
tango between tense acidity and saline minerality. An incredibly lively character
dense with gripping Riesling fruit and a sophisticated intensity. Rich brioche
notes join diverse red fruits, notably red currant, capturing the wine‘s
crisp delicacy and an almost noble elegance. A sparkling wine for Riesling purists.

BERG SCHLOSSBERG RIESLING BRUT 2009
TASTING NOTE
The Rüdesheimer Berg Schlossberg is a beautiful and authentic addition to the Schloss VAUX portfolio of single vineyard sparkling wines. Facing due south with steep 60° slopes and quartzite/red slate soils, this Erstes Gewächs (Premier Cru) vineyard is the perfect home for exceptional Rieslings. From the first concentrated notes of yellow fruit, our sparkling Schlossberg seduces both nose and palate. A subtle saltiness weaves together the complex and mineral- rich flavors. Equal parts power and filigreed grace, this is a true masterpiece with a seemingly boundless finish.
