Champagne (France)
LVF Green Guide 1 Star
Champagne Fleury has been run by the Fleury family for over a century, with each generation contributing to its reputation for innovation. In 1901, Emile Fleury became the first grower in Champagne to replant Pinot Noir after phyloxerra. His son, Robert Fleury, then made the unusual decision to bottle his own champagne in 1929. In the 1970s, Jean-Pierre Fleury became concerned about the effects of chemical agriculture on the environment and began experimenting with manual tilling and composting followed by a trial of biodynamic on 3 hectares of the estate in 1989. Within 3 years he decided to apply those principles to the entirety of his vineyard holdings of 15 ha (90% is Pinot Noir) which makes them the biggest biodynamic producer in Champagne. In 1993, Gault-Millau elected Jean-Pierre winemaker of the year and the international recognition has continued. Located in the Côtes de Bar in the village of Courteron, the Fleury estate vineyards stretch 15 hectares on both slopes of the Seine valley. !
FLEURY
Blanc de Noirs Extra Brut NV
TASTING NOTE
Originally created in 1955 by Robert Fleury, we changed the name of our classic
cuvée to “Blanc de Noirs Brut” in 2010. Every new vintage is added to the previous
vintage to create a perpetual reserve in large casks, a process also known as the
“Solera” method. The cuvée is then aged “sur lattes” for four years.
Jancis Robinson, “Broad, yeasty nose. Full-flavoured and bready on the palate, too;
all held in by the citrus freshness and the depth of the Pinot fruit. Wholesome,
mouth-watering.”

Boléro Extra Brut 2008
TASTING NOTE
Previously named “Millésimé” this cuvée was blended with Chardonnay. In 2004 it
was renamed “Bolero” and became a pure Pinot Noir. Through the inspiration of
Benoit, this high quality vintaged Champagne exudes the personality of the region.
The vintage expresses an array of complex aromas, dried fruits, toasted almonds,
apricots, followed by herbaceous and mineral notes. On the palate we find flavors of
freshly baked-bread, and juicy vgrapes, with a crystalline effervescence.
