Marc Kreydenweiss Alsace
Alsace (France)
Born in Strasbourg in 1948, Marc Kreydenweiss is heir to a family of viticulturists who have lived in Alsace for 3 centuries. He has owned and managed the Domaine since 1971. In 1984, he made the decision to exclusively produce extremely high-quality wine based on a new type of expression, terroir. As a result, the wines have preserved the delicacy on which their reputation was established but now contain increased concentration, complexity and a taste that lingers longer on the palate. In 1989, these same requirements led Marc to introduce biodynamic cultivation at the Domaine. Using “homeopathic” treatments and practices, the soil remains alive and well balanced thus yielding healthy and high-quality grapes. !

Lerchenberg Pinot Gris 2020
TASTING NOTE
Located to the southwest of the Grand Cru Moenchberg, the Lerchenberg with its
silty-clayey soil produces a Pinot Gris with great characters. The wine has a beautiful
straw yellow color with a very ripe nose with aromas of yellow fruit and nuts, but in
which smoky notes can also be discovered. In the mouth a creamy mouthfeel, soft
acids and a light sweetness. The very ripe aromas are reflected in the long finish.
This is certainly for lovers of complex wines with a lot of intensity.
Marc Kreydenweiss started organic and biodynamic viticulture in the 1980s near
Andlau, in the north of Alsace. Even then, the focus was on the highest quality in
harmony with nature.

Au Dessus De la Loi Riesling 2020
TASTING NOTE
This is the Village Riesling with light golden color, youthful nose with a medium-
pronounced intensity. Smooth and yet very fresh aroma of peach, apricot and dry
herbs. Dry on the palate, medium acidity. Medium body with a medium intensity of
mineral and peach flavors. Well-balanced with lingering pleasant finish.

Clos Rebberg Riesling 2019
TASTING NOTE
This vineyard, planted on a blue-gray Villé schist terroir, has never been treated
with any kind of chemical product. It’s located on south-east facing terraces. This
unique rock is the oldest in Alsace with over 500 million years. It’s a very pure and
mineral wine, a frank nose with hints of flintstone, the mouth is long and reveals a
beautiful salinity.

Moenchberg Grand Cru Pinot Gris 2019
TASTING NOTE
The marl and sandstone soil composed by glacial deposits give rise to a dry pinot
gris, pure, powerful and full, with a fantastic length. Note that in 1097, the
Benedictine Abbey of Altdorf had already chosen this south-facing hill to cultivate
their vines.
A salmon pink colour. On the attack, the wine is structured, ample, expressing all the
horizontality of the marls, then the freshness, minerality and elegance of the
sandstones are revealed. The tannins are present with finesse.

Wiebelsberg Grand Cru Riesling 2017
TASTING NOTE
The grand cru Wiebelsberg is located on pink sandstone soil of the Vosges on a
south-east facing steep slope at the exit of the village. It’s a wine with a harmonious
balance and finesse, a ripe and rich nose that reflects the warmth of the vintage.
The palate is generous and voluminous with a nice acidity and saline tension.

Kastelberg Grand Cru Riesling 2009
TASTING NOTE
Robert Parker, “From a very warm vintage but picked early (…) the 2009 Kastelberg
Grand Cru shows an intensely yellow/white golden color as well as very ripe and
intense fruit aromas (…). Rich, lush and round on the first palate and definitely
smoother than 2013 but still piquant and elegant, filled with tension, finesse and
complexity towards the finish (…), the promising 2009 unfolds an impressive, tension-
filled length but is still on an early point of its potential development and would
surely benefit from some hours or days of aeration. “The wine gains finesse and
elegance with the years, especially rich vintages like 2009,” promises Kreydenweiss
before he went to get some liquid arguments from the family’s wine library…”
